Devlog Number Zero
Realized upon completing the base demo, i should add some quick upcoming stuff
But first, how far we've come…


the background (in combat) is much cleaner and the ships are more detailed (in texture) and have navigation lights on them, the intro "cutscene" has been given a much darker and ominous tone with being black and white instead of the standard UTDF white and blue, and mountains were added in the main menu, deepening the visuals.
There have been other visual changes as an improvement, but this is just a summary. Also, the controls are now more fluid and the full set of base controls expected to be in the full game are in, but more may come if requested.
Now, what is come…
Cutscenes and people
Although there is no voice acting, I will try to add as many cutscenes as possible to flesh out the story. Along with no voice acting, there will be no faces in any of the cutscenes. This will be done for multiple reasons
- Adds a uniqueness to the game, to kind of show the idea of faceless soldiers
- If the people are “talking”, the mouth has to move and without speaking audio, it may get disturbing over time
- I cannot model faces in a way that won't look creepy and going the anime face route would lower the seriousness of the game
Although there won't be faces, you can still see the backs/ sides of their heads and stuff, and if they are wearing a helmet, all sides of their head can be shown

Aces, Weapons, and Combat
The whole main point of the UTDF being in this war is to destroy the Lotus (nicknamed the STNS), seen in the main menu

(this thing is actually pretty massive)
And since Enovia knows this, they have assigned squadrons to protect this superweapon amongst their many other that you get to fight
The ALRI (Advanced Long-Range Interceptor) Project

(Design may change, like making the cockpit thinner), (and yes the things at the back are engine plumes)
All of the (main) Aces use the ALRI-1, a prototype craft made by NAWDA (Enovian equivalent of DARPA, except weapons are also made in it instead of researched/ contracted) that works both in and out of atmosphere.
Although originally for defending Enovia from Ostokian attacks during the cold war, it has advanced to the point where is is the greatest fighter craft in the abyss as well (hence the nickname predator of the abyss)
Superweapons
Don't want to spoil too much but there will be some pretty large stuff. As you will see, Enovia is a very strong country and can deploy big stuff with big firepower at any moment

Weapons
The weapons will be very similar to Ace Combat, with cluster missiles, radar guided missiles, torpedos, bombs, and such
There will be more cluster missiles types though, due to after playing Sky Rouge and realising they are pretty fun to play around with.
But, you will not be able to customize the weapons you get on your crafts, or at least not directly
It will use a system similar to Ace Combat 5, with each plane having their own loadout, but the main difference is that weapons have 2 types, light and heavy, meaning that instead of just changing the special weapon you get to change both the standard and special missiles.
Of course, there may be changes to any of these things, but I hope to see you soon with the updated demo.
